The Location

CBC Brewery – Founded in 1988, Columbus Brewing Company is one of the longest-running breweries in Ohio and the oldest brewery in Central Ohio. Our brewery is situated just outside of downtown at 2555 Harrison Road and it’s where we create our innovative and high-quality beers.


The Work

As the Quality Lab Manager at CBC, you are responsible for overseeing the analysis of raw materials, in-process beer, finished beer, and all other laboratory analysis at all steps in the brewing and packaging process, including sensory analysis of beer and ingredients. This position includes time interfacing with management, brewers, packaging staff, and occasionally sales staff to ensure quality standards are met.


The Requirements

  • BS in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field
  • Prior experience in quality control/assurance role, preferably within brewing or food/beverage industry
  • In-depth understanding of the brewing processes, from raw material handling to fermentation an packaging
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and analytical methods used in brewing, such as HPLC, GC, and microbiological assays.
  • Familiarity with industry regulations and standards, such as HACCP, GMP, and FDA regulations, ensuring all processes comply.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work unsupervised
  • High attention to detail to ensure accurate data collection and analysis, and to identify potential issues before they affect product quality
  • Able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, move up to 150 pounds, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Willingness to work in a non-temperature-controlled warehouse (yep, it’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter)
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
